Terms of Service

Last updated July 6, 2026 · Effective July 6, 2026

1. Introduction and Acceptance

Parquecasa Publishing (“Parquecasa”, “we”, “us”) is a sole proprietorship operated by Caleb Parkhouse, based in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern all transactions on, and use of, the website parquecasapublishing.com (the “Site”), including the purchase of any items offered for sale through it.

By placing an order, you (“you”, the “customer”) agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not place an order.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision, and the Terms in effect at the time you place an order govern that order.

2. The Products — Cover-Only Sales Model

This section is important and specific to how Parquecasa operates. Please read it before ordering.

Parquecasa sells single, used, vintage science fiction paperback books. Each listing intentionally displays only a photograph of the book’s cover artwork and a codename identifier in the format “PCASA-###”. Listings do not disclose the book’s title, author, publication year, plot, subject matter, or other identifying textual information at the time of purchase.

2.1 By placing an order, you acknowledge and agree that you are purchasing a curated cover-art object whose textual contents are intentionally undisclosed at the point of sale.

2.2 You acknowledge that the book revealed upon delivery may be of any subject matter, style, theme, or literary quality within the vintage science fiction category, and that you are purchasing on that basis.

2.3 The identity of the physical book is revealed only when it arrives in your possession.

2.4 Each listing is a single, unique, one-of-one copy. Once it sells, it is no longer available.

2.5 The condition of each book is disclosed in its listing using a simple grade: fair, good, very good, or fine.

2.6 All books are used and vintage and may show signs of age consistent with their era, including but not limited to yellowed or toned pages, spine wear, creasing, and previous-ownership markings.

This cover-only model is a deliberate feature of the service. Please do not order if you are not comfortable purchasing a book without knowing its title, author, or contents in advance.

3. Prices, Payment, and Currency

4. Shipping and Delivery

5. Returns and Refunds

Because our listings intentionally do not disclose a book’s title, author, or subject matter (see Section 2), the following applies:

5.1 Dissatisfaction with the revealed book’s genre, plot, era, author, or literary content is not a valid reason for return. This is inherent to the cover-only model you agreed to at purchase.

5.2 We accept returns only where: (a) the physical condition of the delivered book materially differs from the condition grade stated in the listing; (b) the cover artwork of the delivered book does not match the cover shown in the listing; or (c) the book arrives damaged in transit (subject to Section 4).

5.3 To initiate a return, email caleb.parkhouse@gmail.com within 14 days of delivery, describing the issue.

5.4 If a return is approved, the book must be shipped back within 14 days of approval, in the condition in which it was received.

5.5 Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days of our receiving the returned book.

5.6 Outbound and return shipping charges are non-refundable except where the return is due to our error.

Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable rights you have under BC consumer protection law (see Sections 7–9).

6. Intellectual Property

7. Warranties and Disclaimers

7.1 BC consumer protection law establishes certain rights and warranties that cannot be waived or excluded. Nothing in these Terms is intended to waive, exclude, or limit any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived under the laws of British Columbia. Where any provision of these Terms conflicts with such a non-waivable right, that right prevails.

8. Limitation of Liability

8.1 As in Section 7, BC consumer protection law contains protections that cannot be limited or excluded. Those protections apply regardless of this section, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
