Star Trek: The Motion Picture

The Great Bird of the Galaxy is the back cover's name for Gene Roddenberry, and this is the only novel he wrote. The five-year mission is over, the crew scattered, until a refitted Enterprise calls them back against a power that threatens Earth. He worked from Harold Livingston's screenplay and Alan Dean Foster's story; Pocket gave it a Bob Peak cover and numbered it first in their Star Trek line.
