The Years of the City
Frederik Pohl
Pocket Books (Timescape) · 1985
1980s · very good
Pohl's New York goes from wounded, struggling behemoth to the domed, atmospherically controlled megalopolis of the twenty-first century, by way of hang gliders over Central Park, criminals frozen for future justice and a man whose eyes are replaced by radar. The book includes the Nebula nominee "The Greening of Bed-Stuy". Timescape published it in hardcover in 1984, and Paul Lehr painted the domes for this 1985 Pocket paperback.
