Dragonsong

It is not the Thread falling on Pern every two hundred years or so that makes Menolly unhappy; it is her father, who will not let her be a Harper. She runs away and falls in with fire lizards, wild relatives of the dragons, and teaches nine of them to sing. The first Harper Hall book came from Atheneum in 1976, dedicated to Beth Blish.
