Fifth Planet

David Pelham's cover puts a red star on the astronaut's helmet and the Stars and Stripes behind him, one spacesuit between two flags. Fred Hoyle wrote the novel with Geoffrey Hoyle. William Heinemann published it in 1963 and Penguin took it on in 1965; this copy comes from the fourth Penguin printing, in 1974.
