The Modular Man

What makes something, or someone, human is the question Roger MacBride Allen's novel works at, and bound in with it is Isaac Asimov's essay on whether, and when, intelligent machines replace us. The book came out in June 1992, two months after Asimov died. It belongs to The Next Wave, a series built where science meets science fiction; the cover painting is Bruce Jensen's.
